The 7-Step Process

How we conduct an investigation, from conception to conclusion.

Stage I: Awareness

We are made aware of an anomaly. This can occur online or by word-of-mouth to our investigators. Surface-level research will be conducted. If it's determined to be potentially worth our time, it will be cataloged by an Archivist who will document it as a future option.

Stage II: Case Selection

The team will be made aware of a potential anomaly, whether it be presented alone or in a group of other possible studies. Should the study be selected, it'll move on to the next stage.

Stage III: Preliminary Investigation

Archivists will begin sorting through any information available online so that they may develop a full picture. Such information ranges from factual, historical, and the reported anomalous occurrences. Essentially, they are developing the most clear picture one could have via just the internet in order to prepare our investigators for their arrival. This will take the form of an Anomaly Report. A study number is assigned.

Stage IV: Final Selection

The Anomaly Report, in it's complete-up-to-this-point stage, will be presented to investigators who will then determine if this is a case they wish to pursue. If yes, the study proceeds to the next phase.

Stage V: Preparation

An organizer will coordinate with all individuals involved to setup a date. The organizer will also setup any necessary logistics, such as accommodations or a carpool. The plan will be made clear to all involved. If any special permissions are required, such as gaining access to private property, the organizer must gain this permission and should do so before all else.

Stage VI: Investigating

Any interviews are conducted. Investigators will arrive on-site and attempt to observe & document any anomalous activity. Such activity or lack thereof will be given to an Archivist who will compile such information in the Anomaly Report. An ongoing investigation may be concluded in a day, or may even take months to years.

Stage VII: Concluded

All the information gathered would be compiled in the final form of the Anomaly Report. The finalized report will be classified by the Head Archivist. These classifications determine what level of care a handler should practice with the report, usually in an attempt to protect privacy and privileged information. Any sensitive information will be redacted if it's intended to be released to the public.

The Anomaly Report in it's appropriate form will be distributed to any involved individuals who've requested it and published to our Study Catalog. Any variations of the report which contain unredacted sensitive information must be requested and approved by the Head Archivist.
